Posted - November 23 2004 : 12:02:18 AM Well, here's the problem, and what I've done so far: The engine temp gauge has always read low. (Or what I feel is low.) When I first got the truck, the temp gauge would NEVER even move off of rock bottom. When I was doing a bunch of tuning up and maintenance, I took the thermostat out and found it was a 160. I replaced it with a stock 195 thermostat, (since there are NO mods at all) and then the gauge would barely come up off the bottom mark when it was all warmed up. So then I replaced the sending unit, now the gauge will come up to the first mark when it's all warmed up. Well, not the FIRST mark, cause that's the bottom one! I guess you'd say the first mark up from the bottom. So anyway, I had the opportunity to exchange out the instrument cluster for CHEAP this week, so I did it. (The trip odometer didn't work either) Well, the gauge on the new cluster does the same thing. I'm about ready to try another sending unit....I'm thinking the new one I put in is defective. Now my question to all of you is: Where does your gauge sit when it's all warmed up? And when you reply, PLEASE tell what temp thermostat you have, so I can get an idea of where each one sits. I'm most interested in the guys with a stock 195 thermostat. Thanks in advance! |

Posted - March 08 2006 : 3:10:07 PM I just bought my Ty last week but I think it is all stock save for the exhaust and wheels. When I have it nice and warmed up it barely reaches that second hash mark on the temp gauge. I don't think that think is accurate but I'm new to the Ty so I have nothing to go on but the waft of heat released when I open the hood. LOL!

Posted - November 27 2004 : 12:40:49 PM My Truck is almost stock to and I run a 160 themostat the lower temp. helps keep the spark knock down and allows for a lot cooler IC temps as for as the guage gos you could have a bad guage or sending unit, but with the stock themostat mine never read very high |
