Hello people,
I just bought my first Typhoon just before noon today and I'm just trying to connect with other owners. A guy named Kurt turned me on to this site because I was looking for people in the Seattle area to pick their brains about tuning, maintenance etc.
Anyway although I've seen a few SyTy's around I've never met or had chance to speak with the owners so I'm hoping that will change soon.
Thanks,
S.

Welecome to being BOOSTED....
Main thing you want to do first is Tune her up properly, get an ADFPR (Adjustable fuel pressure regulator) and a scantool like datamaster or tunerpro. With the scanntool, you can see if you are getting Knock Retard which bad when you are in Boost. I can damage you motor pretty quick if it is high. Anything in the 6 degress and below is considered safe. Personally.. if I see 3.. I think that is too much. You want to make sure you Typhoon is running Perfect before doing any chip upgrades. If your truck runs bad on the stock chip.. it will suck on any other chip. Don't run any chip other than an Ultimate, Nolan, Dig, Phil Long or any other custom tuned chip that someone on syty.net will make for you. All other chips (Atr Pitbull, Keen Belle, Hypercrap, etc.) all suck and will just blow up your ty.
I would read around on Syty.net sytyarchives.com and syty.org. There are some good maintence articles on those sites to get you started. Once you have a good tune and a scan tool to see how well it really is running then you can think of modding. Then maybe I will look at one of the guildes of how to get yo uinto the 12's for 1000. But like most Syty guys will tell you.. once you start modding it, it will break and cost you BIG money. Keep it stock and just do all the Saftey mods to make it run well and have fun driving it. that usually will be the best thing to do at the start.

It's always nice to see some new SyTy'ers in the Northwest.
We need to have some kind of a get-together...maybe do some wrenching, etc.

Thanks for the tips bro! That is the plan, get it running tip top before any go fast mods. It has a lot of miles on it so I'm babying it right now and putting together a pile of tips from owners and different SyTy sites. I saw that 12 seconds for a $1,000 tip your talking about. It even says in it to make sure you've had a full recent tune up etc.
I've been driving it since Friday and I'm still kind of high off it. I have found a couple of issues that I didn't see initially when test driving it. I never noticed any leaks before but since having it in my garage I now know it is leaking oil. It also smokes sometimes when I let out of the gas. It doesn't do it every time but it happens enough so I'm concerned about that. The people who owned it last have extensive service records which were in the glove box so that's good at least.

You won't believe this but I left work early yesterday because I'd lost my voice. About 3 blocks from my house I'm sitting at an intersection and this dude in a gold Lincoln Navigator is flashing his lights at me. He's behind me and gets out coming up to my window. I think he's going to ask for directions but he turns out to be the Ty's last owner!!! He traded it in 4 months ago for the Navigator. He says that he put a brand new SyTy motor in it about 40K ago and says it had no issues other than that.
His name is Brad and he told me I could call him any time if I needed any info or just to talk SyTy.
